About This Resource

Are you looking for the day after Halloween activities that combine Halloween stories with comprehension questions, crack the code puzzles, and fun brain teasers? This Edgar Allan Poe reading comprehension escape room + solve a mystery game is the perfect challenge to use for Halloween middle school ELA or library activities, technology activities, and team building.

This Middle School ELA escape room includes 6th, 7th, and 8th grade reading comprehension passages and digital + printable logic puzzles. The Social Media Nightmare escape room consists of 5 texts with 19 state testing-like questions, 4 text-dependent logic puzzles, and differentiated options to support or challenge your students.

Get students engaged in this nonfiction and fiction reading comprehension activity that centers around an after school field trip to the Poe Museum on Halloween night. The students tour takes a scary turn when The Keeper of the Shadows takes over and traps them inside the museum. Will students be able to outsmart their twisted tour guide and escape before the clock strikes midnight?

Students will practice main idea and supporting details, author’s purpose and point of view, context clues, and more key reading comprehension skills in the first part of each challenge. They must then use their multiple choice answers to help them solve the logic puzzles.
